i dont even what these processes are or where on earth they come from. how many processes do you customarily have?

I enjoy 73... I'm an IT professional and I know my laptop is very in shape, so yeah... I wouldn't worry unless one of those processes are hogging up greatly of CPU % or Memory...
Many processes, like svchost, spoolsv are majority windows process plus other network & security services. In laptops, near are also additional process that monitors battery-operated level.
Other processes may be added if you enjoy installed programs that run on startup, such as anti virus programs, or firewall programs.
39 processes would be quite usual. As long as there are no spooky things (like crashes, porn sites popping up, programs suddenly closing) taking place while you're using it, there's no problem.
